Become a Community Lifesaver

Community Lifesaver Training focuses on building confidence in participants to perform CPR rather than on assessment or testing. The emphasis is on promoting a willingness and confidence to help during a cardiac arrest with the ethos that,

Any attempt at CPR is better than no attempt

The training includes:

How to recognise a person is having a cardiac arrest.

Very often bystanders do not recognise that someone is suffering from a cardiac arrest. Immediate action is the first step in saving someone’s life. On a Community Lifesaver session you’ll learn what can cause a cardiac arrest, how to recognise it and how to make a 999 call.

The importance of bystander intervention.

The significance of bystander action in the chain of survival cannot be understated, as quick and effective intervention can make the difference between life and death. Whether it involves performing CPR, using an AED, or simply calling for help.

On a Community Lifesaver session you’ll learn why simply waiting for an ambulance is not option.

Hands Only CPR.

Hands-only CPR, which is also known as compression-only CPR, performed by a bystander has been shown to be as effective as CPR with mouth to mouth breaths.

On a Community Lifesaver session you’ll get hands on chest compression practice using some of the most advanced training manikins.

Defibrillation

Public access defibrillators are popping up all over the place but research as shown that 61% of people in the UK would not be confident to use one.

Anyone can use a defibrillator. They tell you exactly what to do, and having one nearby during a cardiac arrest can be the difference between life and death.

It one of the goals of my Community Lifesaver Training that you will have the confidence to use an AED during a cardiac arrest.

Who’s coming to help.

There is no doubt that witnessing someone in cardiac arrest is scary. But you’re not on your own. After making a 999 call you’ll find that help will be there very quickly in the form of Community First Responders and GoodSam Responders. On a Community Lifesaver session you’ll get an understanding of who could be coming to help in a real emergency.

Training for everyone.

A cardiac arrest can happen anywhere, to anyone so it’s essential that everyone in our community is confident in knowing what to do.

Therefore, my Community Lifesaver Training is suitable for everyone. Training can be adapted to any number of participants, ages and no prior first-aid knowledge is required.

I can bring training to your place of work or club and group events. Click here to make a private booking enquiry.

Alternatively, I also hold Community Lifesaver Events within the community. Take a look at the upcoming events for a course near you.

Learn from a Paramedic.

Taught by experienced Paramedic with qualifications in advanced life support and over 10 years experience of attending out of hospital cardiac arrests as first responder and as NHS Ambulance staff.

My training is based on real life situations, so you are guaranteed to learn skills that will make a real difference in saving someone’s life.

Duration & Cost

Depending on the number of participants, the Community Lifesaver training session takes approximately 2 hours. This includes a short presentation, cardiac arrest demonstration and opportunity for participants to practice CPR scenarios.

Community Lifesaver Training is an initiative which I have invested my own savings to set-up. Purchase and servicing costs of equipment is expensive.

I only ask for a contribution of £10 per person to cover the costs of the training. Any profits made will be used for the purchase of new equipment, repairs and servicing of current equipment and to cover all costs of running the Community Lifesaver training.

Your support is crucial in helping me continue my training efforts and empower individuals to become proficient in life-saving skills. Your support is very much appreciated!
